BHP Shareholders for Social Responsibility

The Gammon Ranges National Park, South Australia

BHP holds leases to mine Magnesite within this spectacular gorge at the north end of the Flinders Ranges.
BHP has stated that it will not mine the area, although it has some exploratory holes within the gorge.

Manna Hill Resources Pty. Ltd. wants to acquire the leases from BHP, in spite of the poor market and the likely development of much larger resources in Australia.

Mining would destroy the gorge. The leases are totally at odds with National Park values.

The local aboriginals wish to see the area kept in its current state.

We wish to ensure that BHP and the South Australian government allow the leases to lapse.
